How to read the table

Each row is the adult one-day pass for Sat 16 Jan 2027, the third Saturday in January: a peak-season day, on sale as soon as an operator’s winter prices are up. Skiboard read it on 24 Oct 2026 on the operator’s own ticket shop or tariff page, with the same readers that fetch each weekend’s price every morning. “Online” is the shop’s price for that date on the day it was read: where the area prices by date or demand, you may pay less or more. “Tariff” is the operator’s published price for the season, the same whenever you buy. An area sold on a region’s pass shows that pass’s price; the note under its name gives the ticket as the operator names it.

Small areas and large ones

Areas with 20 km of mapped pistes or more charge a median CHF 69 (59 areas); smaller ones CHF 34 (117 areas). 29 of the larger areas sell the day pass online at a price for the date; most smaller ones publish one tariff for the winter. A small area on a larger region’s pass is listed at that pass’s price.

Areas without a price

128 of the 304 areas in Skiboard’s catalog have no row. Most still show last winter’s tariff, publish no price, or sell the pass in a way Skiboard cannot read yet. Their pages say “price pending”, and they join the table when their operator publishes this winter’s price.

What the price buys

A big area charges more, but far from in proportion. Across the 141 day passes in the table, twice the mapped km adds about 13% to the price and 1,000 m more vertical about 34%; size and vertical together explain 77% of the differences between passes. Skiboard fits that curve to the table and says, on each area’s page, in the weekend table and in the “Value” ranking, how far a pass sits above or below what areas of its size and vertical charged for Sat 16 Jan 2027. A pass that covers several areas is measured against all of them, even where one of those areas sells a cheaper pass of its own. Furthest below for that day, among areas with 20 km of pistes or more: Verbier 4 Vallées (CHF 80.10, 28% less); Aletsch Arena (CHF 62, 26% less); Arosa Lenzerheide (CHF 67, 23% less).

The km are what OpenStreetMap maps, which an operator’s own total can exceed, so a pass is compared with others mapped the same way. An area whose pistes cross the border is not measured: a Swiss pass need not cover the other side. And the measure says nothing about which lifts run on the day, or how the snow is: that is what the rest of the ranking is for.

Your weekend’s price

Each area’s page shows the day pass for the coming Saturday and Sunday once it is on sale, read every morning on the same shop or tariff, and the January price until then. In the ranking, the “Value” preset scores the weekend’s price for the size of the area it buys, and the day-pass cap in the filters leaves out the areas above it.
